Airway Research Center North (ARCN)
The ARCN is made up of six partner at different sites:
- Research Center Borstel
- University of Lübeck
- Christian-Albrechts-University Kiel
- LungenClinic Grosshansdorf
The ARCN focusses its investigations on asthma, COPD and lung cancer. It is an integrated center for pneumology, thoracic surgery and lung research, that ensures excellent interdisciplinary patient care and puts new diagnostic and therapeutic concepts into practice as soon as possible.
A central research target is to develop more effective prevention, diagnosis and improved therapy individually tailored to the patient. Part of the ARCN are the experimental pneumology research projects in the field of inflammation of lung tissue and the regeneration of pathologically altered tissue.
The Director of the ARCN group is Prof. Dr. Klaus F. Rabe (Head of Pneumology / Medical Director of the Lung Clinic Großhansdorf), and the scientific and administrative site coordination is the responsibility of Dr. Jörn Bullwinckel.
