The BeoNet Register

There is still a lack of reliable and credible data comprehensively and representatively reflecting the actual outpatient treatment situation in Germany. In many different medical preventive and curative, political or economic areas, projections or retrospective data from the medical insurance companies or health reports are therefore being used. This shortcoming is now to be rectified with an up-to-the-minute, high quality register, representative of primary care: the BeoNet Register.

The BeoNet Register will be set up in cooperation with:

  • doctors, IT experts, economists, sociologists, data protection representatives and ethicists from the DZL sites in Heidelberg, Munich and Hannover
  • as well as general practitioners, respiratory physicians and pediatricians.

The Register is based on data that will be documented in the electronic patient files. Wherever necessary, these data will be complemented by study-specific information from questionnaires or linked with data from the inpatient sector. With the BeoNet Register, the course of disease and systemic interventions in the outpatient sector will be depicted, thus facilitating answers to questions that are relevant for medical treatment and important for the patients.

It is the function of the BeoNet Register to hold information gained from a long-term cooperation between general practitioners, clinicians and scientists, reflecting the physician’s real everyday practices.
